About the author

Hello reader,
I am Anmol Pahwa, a Civil Engineering PhD student at University of California, Davis.
Ever since my childhood I have been fascinated by Railways, Subways and Metro systems. And in my undergrad at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, I got the opportunity to study Transportation systems for the first time. Since then I have been hooked onto The World of Transportation Science. And although moving people still remains one of my key academic interests, however my current research focuses on moving goods, mainly creating, solving, optimizing and analyzing sustainable last-mile operations for business-to-consumer (B2C) market, like that of but not limited to Amazon.

As a PhD student, as we churn out research articles, I wonder how much of an impact does research make, and how much of the work reaches the public sphere – for whom the research truly is. And thus in my humble effort to bridge this gap between the academia and the public, I write this blog series The World of Transportation Science, be it moving people or goods.
